About West Rand Association for Persons with Disabilities  :

Our objective is to promote the treatment, education, training, employment and general welfare of persons with disabilities.

The Association came into being in 1947 as the then West Rand Cripple Care Association as a direct result of the outbreak of a Polio epidemic. The Association had since then evolved and developed and now caters for various physical and mental disabilities. It is now called “West Rand Association for Persons with Disabilities” (WRAPD) and is registered under this name.

The WRAPD consists of five different departments/projects:

Administration | Social Work and outreach program | Roy Martin Residence | Sophia Oosthuizen Protective Work Centre | Rainbow Day Care Centre for disabled children.

All departments are situated on the premises in Krugersdorp West except Rainbow Day Care Centre which is situated in Randfontein.
